The boiled egg that was never eaten...

It is 3 am. And i've been drinking vodka and watching 'Lost in translation'. I drank it out of a really tall glass meant for beer. I could've used an ever-silver tumbler. Does alcohol react with ever-silver? But if it is ever-silver it has to be ever silver no? I want to wear a silly yellow t-shirt. Inside out. And dance with Scarlette Johansson. I am thinking of Japan. The crowded Shinjuku station. The pretty girls in white skirts who hand out pamplets that say Massage but mean many other things. The Big Budha sitting at peace at Kamakkura. The people who are always running. The boss who is present when you reach office. And when you leave office. The slot machine attached to the hotel room's TV where you insert 100 yens to get 10 minutes of porn. The laptops in the platforms of Akihabara, and the cigarrette lighters shaped like fire extinguishers. The Buddhist temples, where you wash your feet before going in, and write your wishes in white pieces of paper and tie them up for Budha to read them and bestow upon you what you want. You could buy some corn, have them in your palm, and stretch your hand out for pigeons to peck on them. But remember to wear gloves. Pigeon beaks would be nicer to you then. I didn't. I saw glimpses of the country today, and want to go. I took a picture of half an egg, boiled a week ago and neglected since. The yellow is not yellow any more and the white is a very sad cream. I placed it in a shiny black bowl and placed the bowl on the wooden floor of my kitchen. So that the picture could have the yellow that is not yellow any more, the sad cream, the shiny black, and the ply wood brown. The picture came out very ordinary. I then threw the egg in my trash can. And emptied the contents of my trash can onto a bigger trash can outside my flat. Tomorrow the bigger trash can would be emptied into an even bigger trash can in a lorry that comes by. I don't know what happens after that. Have you seen 'The lady killers'? I will go sleep now. I need to get up and find out why, of 10 frames, 5 are going on port 1 and 5 on port 2, whereas 6 are supposed to go on port 1 and 4 on port 2. It is very important. No seriously.

Did a project for Delhi Metro Corp on solid waste management, and I can tell you all about what happens to the lorry full of trash... but you won't like it one bit :)

Arun - actually drink rarely these days...and what is that sicrit sambharrasam blog...pliss to give access unless it is really really top secret types...

Balaji - glad to be of help mate :)...

Mani - In chennai lorries with trash go to Pallikaranai marsh where they're dumped so that 10 years from now there'll be no birds and no marsh and builders can build their flats.

In 'The lady killers' trash is dumped on a ship. They don't show what happens after that.

So what happens in Delhi may not happen here. But i am all ears...Nothing can be more interesting :)...

Avinash : Just like Pallikaranai, Shoreline area (where Google is located) in Mt.View was a dumping ground for the city of SFO. Now the same area is a thriving regional wildlife park! Is there some chance Pallikaranai could also turn into shoreline (complete with a new Google like God setting up their HQ there ) ? A man can dream ;)

Like this post :-) Funny, i've been thinking about Japan too and I just finished writing a post on trash which i never posted. Thirdly, I am up at 3 AM and thinking about statistical management in NAS although I only have a glass of water in my blood stream. Glad to see that we continue to be crazy.

Love japan. never been there. Plan to. Have forgotten what vodka tastes like. does it taste at all? I vaguely recall only feeling it :)
Trash becomes compost sometimes. And then it is fed to plants that we eventually consume.
The weeks almost over. Going..going.. gone,baby,gone !

Balaji - Dream away buddy, but the builders have more muscle than the polite corporate i guess...

Priya - :)...And do post that post on trash...Fresh trash stinks less then old one...

Ragzzmatazz - Your comment reminds of the explanation that dad lion gives the cub, about the circle of life, when asked about why lions eat antelopes, in 'Lion king' :)...("We eat antelopes. We die and go to the ground, grow back as grass, and the antelopes eat them", or some such thing)...And for me vodka tastes like lime or lime and pudina, cos that's the only way i've had it...

Swami - so that's how you think these days...in tweets, and FB updates? :)...(Not surprising, considering you even took an FB quiz recently...but how come you have time...Paypal has loosened you up a lil?)..

TQ - can't seem to help it :)...the posting when drunk part...

Great blog! Unpretentious writing, not meant for anyone but yourself I would presume...

Been meaning to visit your blog for a few days now and finally made it. I don't even have an excuse, it's not like I have a life outside the cyber world these days:-)

Juggler - Thanks, and welcome...And i did read in the 'Footloose on the freeway' blog that you're on the hunt. Good luck. When vettiness quotient is high, picking one vetti thing could be tedious :). But wouldn't the hunt keep you on your toes?

oh now i know why u were filled with anst on reading about "uncouth men, empty bottles of wine and loveless sex thing"

frissko said...

Anu - I'm good...How've you been? Will write to you...

Samudra - I saw this coming. But that's not the point. My problem is with the association of morality with mundane things like stubbles and shaving and cigars and wine, the kind of stereotyping that happens in bad movies. And you're assuming that i indulge in every 'vice' i mention of, about japan...

Samudra said...

no,i didn't assume that. nor did i necessarily make that assosiation, ive lot of friends who love whisky, wine and smoke. and i also find men with stubbles quite attractive:)

so the pooint iam making is, re-read the poem, u might a different perspective.
